A few of my fav AUD's for both quality of sound AND performance:

8/5&6/71 Amazing AUD quality for the time
6/22/73 Same as above (great show as well; has one of my favorite Birdsongs and a gorgeous Playin')
9/1/79
10/25/79
3/9/81
3/12/81
5/5/81
5/16/81 (one of my faves..."The Other Barton Hall")
9/25/81
6/18/83
8/27/83 (first set smokes, Jack Straw is immense)
10/12/84 (personal fave Dew)
7/2/88
3/24/90 (the Loser is guaranteed to impress)

Again, these are but a few. There is a generally accepted list of the "Best Auds" on the Archive, but I don't have the link. I'm sure one of the other fine folks here will be kind enough to post it.

Be sure to convert all the files to "Gapless Playback" once you've dumped them in iTunes. You can also covnvert the MP3's to AAC format to conserve space if that is an issue.

I'm sure SDH meant to add 5/1/81 as an exemplary AUD in both sound quality and performance, and merely forgot to do so. ;-)

Run, don't walk, to DL this show.

Superb versions of LET IT GROW, DEAL, ALTHEA, UNCLE>BIG RIVER,HE'S GONE, WHEEL, and more.

Seriously incredible AUD sound--actually better than the SBD. 5-star show, hands down.

Thanks for correcting my horrible oversight. Agreed on this one. 81 produced some of the best AUD tapes out there.

Oh, yeah, don't forget 6/22/74.

I know I banged on at length about this one before so I'll just say this - go listen!

Hope all is well with all of you across your big old nation!

Yeah, yeah...we know. Dead...England...Show...You...Great...Hot...Quality...and so on ad nauseum.
Too bad it's a board and not for DL here (but if one is so inclined as to venture over to the Arrow...say no more)

Good to see you pop up again as well on the "Big Board". Let us all be sure to remember that there is no fighting in the War Room.

Damn - you're right. I screwed up. I have allowed my skills as a poster to atrophy unforgivably. How is this to be remedied I ask myself? (I'd ask you but I know the sort of response I'd get...)

"...atrophy unforgivably"

Fond memories of the wedding night?

Sorry, that was low even by my standards. Speaking of standards: got a bottle of Talisker for X-Mas, life has been good indeed.

I knew I could still play straight guy to your somewhat bent one ...

(Now where are you going to go with that, I wonder?)

Sorry, that one's way too easy.

How was the X-Mas for you and yours?

(Dire, I, too, missed these meandering hijackings)

Before we meander further down these well trodden by ways here's another show for the list - and this one IS an AUD.

http://www.archive.org/details/gd81-03-24.aud.weiskircher-vernon.10308.sbeok.shnf

It's a little cracker frankly - I'd go into more detail if I wasn't on kitchen duty. But you trust me, dontcha? If Half Step doesn't hook you right in I'll be very surprised. It's right up there.

Christmas was quiet - thanks for asking - but really I liked it that way. It seems a distant memory now as I struggle with tax returns and trying to map out some sort of work strategy for the year.

Don't get all mushy on me - but its good to be back here.

I omitted some only in the interest of brevity. If I had included ALL of my favorite AUD's, especially those from 79 through 83, we'd be here all day. But, yes, that is also one hell of a show in amazing quality. A must have...
